This article contains tip to help you cultivate a healthy garden. Don’t waste money on equipment, plants or seeds without first figuring out exactly what you need.
Sod should be laid properly. Your soil should be prepared before you lay the sod. Remove weeds and break your soil until all the clumps are gone. When the soil is clean, pack it tightly and create a flat surface. Now make sure the soil is thoroughly dampened. Sod should be placed in rows that are staggered, where the joints connect to offset each other. Firm sod until there is an even, flat surface; fill in gaps with soil. Your sod should be watered everyday for at least two weeks, then it will root itself and walk on it.
Before you start planting your garden, plan it! It will be easy to remember where each plant is when sprouts start to shoot up the following spring. In addition, some plants are so small you might forget you planted them once all your plants sprout. Planning stops these plants from getting lost in the crowd.
If you want an organic way to weed your garden, try “boiling” them. Boiling water is a very safe alternative to other potent herbicides. All you need to do is apply boiling water right to the weeds you want to get rid of. Be careful not to get any on the plants you want to keep. This can cause enough damage to the roots of any plant to kill it.
Are fresh mint leaves something you love but cannot stand how quickly they grow all over your garden? Keep your mint growth under control by planting them in pots and/or garden containers. The container can be planted in the ground, and it will still prevent the plant from dominating the garden.
When gardening outdoors, you must always wear sunscreen and appropriate attire; this will help to protect you from sun damage. Try wearing a large sunhat and sunglasses to protect your face and eyes, and use sunscreen on any exposed skin. Protecting yourself from the sun will lower the possibility of sunburn and skin cancer.
Aspirin water will strengthen your plants against diseases. Dissolve one and one-half aspirins into two gallons of cold water, and use it to fortify your plants. Simply spray your plants with the mixture, and this will help them fend off various diseases. Try to apply the mixture to the plants at least once in each three week period.
Make sure that you take time to properly plant any seeds that you buy. Start first by moisturizing your soil. Your seeds should be spaced out evenly so they aren’t overcrowded. This will ensure that they can grow. The depth at which you bury them should be three times their size. Some seeds should not be buried at all as they need light to grow.
It simply requires some research, some work, and some patience. This work will ultimately pay off for you once you figure out how to make an item grow.
